Scientists grow ‘Human Brain’ in Lab

It is reported that a group of scientists in Birmingham have artificially created a living human brain. What? A human brain? How it is possible? According to news reports, the scientists at Aston University in Birmingham have created tiny bundles of cells which act like a mini nervous system. It is hoped that the artificial human brain will help find cure for some deadly disease conditions such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s Disease.

Space Station gets final pairs of Solar Arrays

The International Space Station (ISS) has got the fourth and final pairs of solar arrays. The crews of the US space shuttle Discovery and the resident astronauts of the International Space Station unfurled the new solar wings on Friday, after installing them on Thursday. ISS is now 80% complete and the new solar arrays will bring the space station up to full power.

Microsoft gets 10,000th Patent

Microsoft on Tuesday said it has just recorded its 10,000th U.S. patent, which is related to technology used in its Surface computing platform. The U.S. Patent No. 7,479,950 covers a new technology that lets users to place objects on the computer’s tablelike display and have them associated with the data or media stored on the computer’s hard drive.

Bill Gates releases Mosquitoes at tech conference

NASA asks school children to name new Mars rover

US space agency NASA has started a contest among school children to name the agency’s next Mars rover. Called as “Name the Rover”, the contest is started in partnership with Disney-Pixar’s WALL-E. It is open for 5 to 18 years old student in grades K-12 in the United States, including U.S. possessions and schools operated by the U.S. for children of American personnel overseas.

AVG acquires ID theft prevention specialist Sana Security

Antivirus and Internet Security company AVG Technologies on Tuesday announced that it has acquired identity-theft prevention software maker Sana Security Inc.
