SanDisk has started shipping its SanDisk G3 Solid State Drives (SSD) to retailers in North America and Europe. The 120 GB SanDisk G3 SSD can endure up to 80 terabytes (TB) of data written to it over its lifetime. The flash memory-based SanDisk G3 SSD offers a compelling alternative to a 7,200 RPM Hard Disk Drive (HDD) for those who seek increased durability and performance with high reliability.

The solid state drive uses a smart flash management system called ExtremeFFSTM technology that has the potential to accelerate random write performance and thus extend the endurance of SanDisk G3 SSDs inside computers that use operating systems such as Microsoft Windows XP and Windows 7. SanDisk G3 SSD is Microsoft Windows 7 certified and is compatible with Apple Mac OS X Snow Leopard as well as Windows XP, Windows Vista and Linux. The drive also supports the newest Windows 7 TRIM feature, which contributes to a substantial gain in the SanDisk G3 SSD’s performance by allowing the drive to continuously manage its resources and retain optimized performance throughout its lifespan. SanDisk G3 SSD uses no moving parts, enabling improved durability that helps resist drive damage. It also comes with a 10-year limited warranty.

SanDisk, one of the leaders in flash memory cards, announced the fastest 32GB SDHC card on the market. The 32GB SanDisk Extreme® SDHC™ card is designed to help digital photography enthusiasts utilize the advanced features of today’s DSLR cameras. It features up to 30 megabytes per second (MB/s) read and write speeds and also adheres to the SD Association’s new Class 10 specification, which exceeds requirement for today’s high definition (AVCHD) video recording.

“Our card’s 32GB of storage and up to 30MB/s read & write speeds enable DSLR users to shoot without worrying about storage or speed limitations”, said Susan Park, director, retail product marketing, SanDisk. The SanDisk Extreme SDHC card’s performance exceeds the requirements of even the highest-quality AVCHD video recording device, and is currently the fastest Class 10 card in the world.

According to SanDisk, the SanDisk Extreme SDHC 32GB offers a sustained write speed fast enough to ensure high-definition video recording and capacity capable of storing 160 minutes of full HD 1920×1080 pixels at 24Mb/s data transfer rate. It will be shipping worldwide to major retailers in August. Also in August, the current 4, 8 and16GB capacity SanDisk Extreme SDHC cards will be upgraded from Class 6 to Class 10.
