PDF Split and Merge (also called PDFsam) is a free open source tool to split and merge PDF documents. With it’s simple and intuitive interface you can do many things such as split your PDF documents, merge many PDF documents, extract sections of your document, visually reorder pages and more. PDFsam is written in Java Swing and tested on Java 2 SDK, Standard Edition, Version 1.4.2. So, it is platform independent and runs on every platform where a Java Virtual Machine is available.
PDF Split and Merge is available in two versions: PDFsam basic and PDFsam enhanced. PDFsam basic is a simple tool designed to split and merge PDF files. It’s very simple, stable and completely free. On the other hand, PDFsam enhanced version comes with a few additional features such as PDF encryption and decryption. The PDFsam enhanced is almost free. You can download the source code, compile and use it or, if you think it’s worth it, you can make a donation of any amount.
