Firefox 2.0.0.18 and Firefox 3.0.4

Mozilla on Wednesday released security and stability update for Firefox 2.0 and Firefox 3.0. These two updates includes several critical bug fixes and Mozilla recommends all Firefox users upgrade to this latest release.

Firefox 3.0.4, fixes four flaws rated “critical,” two “high,” two “moderate,” and one “low” in Mozilla’s four-step scoring system. Most of the critical bugs fixed in this release could be used by hackers to introduce their own malicious code into a vulnerable system. Firefox 3.0.4 fixes the following critical vulnerabilities: crash and remote code execution in nsFrameManager, buffer overflow in http-index-format parser, XSS and JavaScript privilege escalation via session restore and crashes with evidence of memory corruption.

On the other hand, Firefox 2.0.0.18 will fix six flaws rated “critical,” three “high,” one “moderate,” and one “low”. The critical vulnerabilities fixed in this version includes crash and remote code execution in nsFrameManager, buffer overflow in http-index-format parser, XSS and JavaScript privilege escalation via session restore, crash and remote code execution via __proto__ tampering, arbitrary code execution via Flash Player dynamic module unloading and crashes with evidence of memory corruption.
