More and more people are using Skype for making international phone calls. According to TeleGeography, a communications research firm, in 2008 about 8% of international calls were made through Skype, the internet-based telephone service. So, only five years after its launch, Skype has emerged as the largest provider of cross-border voice communications in the world.

Microsoft on Tuesday said it has just recorded its 10,000th U.S. patent, which is related to technology used in its Surface computing platform. Antivirus and Internet Security company AVG Technologies on Tuesday announced that it has acquired identity-theft prevention software maker Sana Security Inc. The transaction marks another successful milestone for AVG, as it continues to improve Internet security coverage for individuals and small businesses and expand its global footprint. IBM, together with researchers from the top universities such as Stanford, Wisconsin-Madison, Cornell, Columbia and California-Merced will work on a new intelligent system that will mimic brains.
