Apple removes Antivirus Recommendation Note

Apple on Tuesday, removed their recommendation about use of antivirus software. Earlier a note posted on their support site urged Mac users to go for an anti-virus program for online safety. This created a lot of buzz among the Mac users. The support note was initially published last year and was updated in November. Apple now says the Mac is “safe out of box”.

“We have removed the KnowledgeBase article because it was old and inaccurate. The Mac is designed with built-in technologies that provide protection against malicious software and security threats right out of the box,” Apple spokesperson Bill Evans told CNET.
